10 Ways To Increase Social Media Traffic

10 Ways To Increase Social Media Traffic

Generating traffic via social media is becoming increasingly difficult for many reasons.

More and more platforms are reducing the visibility of content posted and require you to pay to get more eyeballs on your content, whether it’s text, images, or videos.

As a result, some marketers use automated software to manage their social media activity such as Following, Liking, and Commenting.

Some are even using shady black hat methods to game the system, which I highly recommend staying away from if you plan to keep your accounts for the long term.

Back in the day, you could create your social media profiles and within a short period of time, you’d have hundreds if not thousands of followers.

However, that’s no longer the case.

The ten tips that I’m going to be sharing with you are the fundamentals of social media marketing.

It doesn’t matter how advanced you become in anything, whether that be a sport or a marketing strategy, you must always practice and apply the fundamentals.

The coaches of athletes apply this principle all the time.

For example, in football, the most important fundamentals are Blocking, Tackling, and Running the Ball.

The teams that consistently focus on those three things greatly increase their chances of winning championships.

Regardless, whether or not you plan on using automated software to manage your social media profiles or go old school by manually posting, you must apply these ten tips to get the more out of your efforts.

A little optimization can go a long way towards building a following and increasing engagement.

Without further ado, let’s get into those 10 tips that you can use to drive more traffic to your web properties…

1)) Complete Your Profile

When you first open your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube or other social media site account, fill out your profile (including Header and Profile images).

Doing so makes it easier for people to get to know and build relationships with you, which will make it more likely they’ll click through to your site.

Also, when others see that you’ve completed your profile, they’ll take you serious.

Incompleted profiles may be viewed with skepticism and many people may think you’re a spammer.

The bottom line is that completed profiles convey trust.

2)) Interact

Social sites are, by definition, social. They’re two way streets (not monologues). That’s why you shouldn’t just post content and move on.

Instead, spend a few minutes each day interacting and getting to know people in your network.

Earlier, I mentioned the fundamentals of social media, which are Following, Liking, and Commenting.

These activities done manually can be time consuming, especially if you have multiple social media profiles.

You have the option of using automated software, manually posting yourself, or outsourcing the work to someone else.

Choose the method that complements your daily schedule, but the key takeaway is that you must be social by interacting with those in your circle of influence on a regular basis.

3)) Include a Link to Your Site on Your Profile Page

This tip is simple but effective: Give people a reason to click through from the social media site to your blog or squeeze page.

You’ll be amazed at home many people that don’t include a link to their website.

A promise of a free solution usually makes for a good enticement.

4)) Ask Your Followers to “Retweet” And Repost

If you create a “buzzworthy” post (such as a post on a hot or even controversial niche topic), as your Twitter followers to “retweet” it and ask your other social media networks to repost it.

While no one can predict what post will go viral, by basing it on hot topics can increase the chances.

5)) Spend Time Each Day Growing Your Network

Commit to spending at least 10 minutes each day growing your network. You’ll see big results by the end of the month.

And you’ll be amazed at the size of your network in six months or a year from now.

This consistent effort can result in geometric growth.

Just think of “The Tortoise and Hare” fable, slow and steady wins the race.

6)) Link Your Social Site Pages Together

Get in the habit of linking your social profiles together in order to create information highways.

For example, link your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and other social profiles together.

YouTube channels are perfect, because they allow you to include multiple website links creating somewhat of a hub for your online presence.

7)) Use Your Real Name So That you’re Easy to Find

People who want to do business with you won’t respond well if your profile is called something like “4Reelz2020” or “BaseballBoy72.”

Instead, build trust by using your real name, especially if you’re the subject matter expert.

Doing so also makes it easier for others to find you on Facebook and similar sites.

8)) Post Great Content

Social media is not just about networking, it’s also about sharing useful information whether in the form of entertainment or solutions that solves problems.

If you share some of your best content with your network, you’ll get respect, trust, and more sales.

Plus you’ll establish yourself as a niche expert.

Remember, specialists get paid more than generalists.

Just think of a General Practitioner versus a Neurosurgeon.

Whom do you think makes more money?

The neurosurgeon, of course!

On the Internet, great content is king or queen and always will be well into the future.

9)) Optimize Some of Your Content

Some social sites (such as Quora.com) gets crawled and indexed regularly by the search engines.

As such, you may consider optimizing some of your content for the search engines by including relevant (longtail) keywords two or three times for every 100 words of content.

You must master how to write for both your readers and the search engines, which requires practice, which will not happen overnight, but can with consistency over time.

10)) Get the Most Benefit for Your Time

Instead of trying to interact and build relationships with thousands of prospects, consider building a relationship with a handful of joint venture partners.

That’s because just one good partner can send you hundreds or thousands of prospects and customers in one fell swoop.

Since venture partners already have a database of thousands of people that Know, Like, and Trust them, you could potentially tap into their massive list and shortcut the process of wasting money on ineffective advertising and marketing methods.

Just imagine if you’re able to get a partner to send an email to a list of 100k people promoting your website and offers.

You could easily build your social media presence, increase website traffic, get more sales, and even build your own list.

You have the freedom to put together whatever type of deals you’d like, because you’re only limited to your own creativity.

In marketing, we call that leverage and it’s a beautiful word!

Conclusion

While social media marketing has evolved over the years and there are less low hanging fruits in terms of being able to easily build a following without having to pay to promote your posts.

It’s still worth the effort to increase your online visibility to get the attention of your target audience.

Social media is only expected to grow in the future, and now is the best time to get involved if you’d like to grow your business right along with it.

You can start today by applying the ten traffic-generating, relationship-building tips you just discovered!
