10 Ways To Become A Good Blogger

Ways To Become A Good Blogger

Even though blogging has been around for decades, it’s still one of the most powerful ways to connect with your targeted audience and to generate income, right from the comforts of your own home.

Take a moment to imagine if you will, having one of the most popular blogs in your niche.

Think of how much money you could make selling your products or affiliate products.

Imagine how big your email list would be.

And when you were ready to exit the business, just imagine how much money you’d make selling your corner of the web.

All of this is possible, especially if you follow these 10 tips for becoming a better blogger…

1)) Survey Your Readers to Find Out What They Want

Adding a poll or short survey to your blog not only makes your blog interactive (which is a good thing), it also gives you an idea of what kind of content and solutions your readers want!

There’s a difference between wants and needs.

Doesn’t it make perfect sense to provide your readership with the content and product offers that they seek to solve their problems, rather than force-feeding them information you want to share?

2)) Give Your Readers Info That They’d Gladly Pay For

Just because your blog is free doesn’t mean you should post worthless content.

On the contrary, you should post valuable content, the kind of solutions your market is already paying for on your blog.

That way, you can build trust and establish yourself as an expert in your niche.

3)) Write About Hot or Controversial Topics to Spur Discussion

When there’s a controversy going on in your niche, grab a side and blog about it. Push a few emotional buttons.

Then create a call to action at the end of your post where you specifically ask your readers for their comments and feedback.

The more emotionally charged the post, the more likely it is that you’ll get comments.

Polarization is a very powerful motivator for getting people to share their opinions about different topics.

Just think about the Windows Users versus Apple Users, these are two polarized groups of people that will go to war against each other on the Internet.

So, use Hot and Controversial Topics to your advantage to boost interaction.

4)) Join the Blogosphere Discussions

Your blog is not an island. Start visiting other blogs in your niche and join the community discussions.

You can comment directly on their blogs. Or better yet, write a response on your blog using a trackback link.

One of the best methods to help you build a following and to get more website traffic is by doing some Guest Blogging.

This allows you to tap into other blogger’s audiences, which drastically shortcuts the process of becoming an influencer yourself.

5)) Optimize Your Posts for the Search Engines

You don’t have to optimize every post you make. But if you make a point to optimize at least one post per week, you’ll see a steady increase in traffic.

Tip: Use a keyword tool to uncover your niche keywords. Choose words that have low competition, but a decent search volume, which varies depending upon what niche you get into. Then include your keywords two or three times for every 100 words of content.

I advise against doing any Keyword Stuffing, where you include your targeted keywords in your blog posts too many times.

This will make your content extremely difficult to read and will cause your site visitors to never return to your blog again.

Remember, when you create your blog content and add in your targeted keywords, you must strike a balance, so that it can be found by both the search engines and your intended audience, and reads well.

6)) Arouse Curiosity with Password-Protected Posts

Your visitors can see that your blog has a lot of good content. But then they notice that you lock up your best content behind password protected posts (with the passwords only being available to your subscribers).

You can bet curiosity will get the best of many of your readers… and they’ll subscribe.

You may also want to consider putting a call-to-action that promotes your membership site where they could gain access to your top-notched content.

7)) Learn To Create Killer Headlines

People will decide whether to read your post based on your headline. As such, use headlines that include words like How To, You, Amazing, Secrets and Discover.

It doesn’t matter how amazing your content is, if the headline doesn’t create curiosity that speaks directly to a problem they’re seeking solutions for.

8)) Vary Your Posting Style

Don’t always post a 400 word “how to” article. Instead, mix things up by posting articles of different lengths and different styles.

If your posts are always around the same length and on the same topics, your readers may get bored and stop visiting your blog.

Examples of different Blog Post Types:

  • How To Articles
  • Ways To Articles
  • Tips Articles
  • Resources Articles
  • Rant Articles
  • Motivational Articles
  • Tip Mistakes Articles
  • Our Top 10 Most Popular Articles

Those are just a handful of the different types of blog posts that you can use to mix up your content with to keep your readers interested and coming back.

9)) Interact With Your Readers by Answering Their Comments

Nowadays, most bloggers disable their site’s commenting features due to the enormous amounts of SPAM received.

However, if you’re still up to the task, and are disciplined to manage your comments, then you’ll want to utilize this feature.

Your comment section isn’t just a place for your readers to talk amongst themselves – it’s also a great place for you to interact with your readers.

Since people buy from those they Know, Like, and Trust, this simple act of interacting can grow your income.

TIP: You could always use a SPAM plugin on your blog to help manage comments or outsource this task to an admin.

10)) Make Blogging A Part of Your Daily Routine

Add “write a blog post” to each and every daily to-do list until it becomes a habit.

If you write just one short blog post per day, in a year you’ll have 365 blog posts, which could result in a whole lot more readers, subscribers, and income!

Conclusion

Creating a big, popular blog isn’t a matter of doing one thing. Instead, you can create a better blog (and become a better blogger) by consistently taking a series of smaller steps.

There’s a popular saying that goes like this, “How Do You Eat An Elephant? One Bite At A Time.”

Well, that’s one way you could approach building your blog without becoming overwhelmed and still get it done.

These ten tips are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to becoming a better blogger, but they provide you with a great starting point and lay a solid foundation in which you could build upon.

My advice is to decide whether you’d like to become blogger or not, and if you do, just get started and learn as you go.

I recommend that you model after successful bloggers by investing in their courses in order to save yourself years of trial-and-error.

Good luck on your journey!
